Effexor is an antidepressant used as treatment for depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. It helps restore the balance of natural substances (neurotransmitters such as serotonin and norepinephrine) in the brain. Effexor may improve your mood, feelings of well-being, and energy level and decrease nervousness and the number of panic attacks you may have.

Usages

Directions for Intake:

• Effexor is taken orally, as often as indicated in the prescription of your doctor
• Finish the entire amount that was prescribed even after beginning to feel better
• Take any missed dose as soon as it is remembered. However, do not double the dosage of your medication at any particular assigned time
• In case of overdosing, seek medical attention immediately

Directions for Storage:

• Store this medication in a place away from moist, light and extreme heat
• The appropriate temperature for the storage area is between 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 15 to 30 degrees Celsius
• Also choose a storage area that is not easily accessible to children

Side Effects

• Mild side effects include dry mouth, headache, drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, weakness, constipation, blurred vision, loss of appetite, weight loss, fatigue, excess sweating, and difficulty sleeping
• Unlikely but serious side effects include fainting, severe/pounding headache, unusual or severe mental/mood changes (e.g., extreme anxiety, unusual high energy/excitement, rare thoughts of suicide), shakiness (tremor), decreased interest in sex, changes in sexual ability, difficulty urinating, and change in the amount of urine
• Rare but very serious side effects include stomach/abdominal pain, chest pain, persistent cough, shortness of breath, bloody/black/tarry stools, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, easy bruising/bleeding, dark urine, seizures, unusual tiredness, fast/irregular/pounding heartbeat, muscle weakness/cramps, and yellowing eyes/skin
• Effexor may cause an allergic reaction to some users

Warnings

Precautions:

• Consult your doctor before taking Effexor. Make sure to give your doctor a complete background of your medical history
• Inform your physician of any previous and present experience of having psychiatric disorders (e.g., bipolar/manic-depressive disorder), severe loss of body water (dehydration) , glaucoma, eating disorder, high blood pressure, heart problems (chest pain, irregular, heartbeat, heart failure, heart attack), high cholesterol, kidney disease, liver disease, seizure disorder, thyroid problems, low sodium in the blood, and any allergies
• This may cause increased suicidal tendencies or attacks of depression
• Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the effects of this drug
• If you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant, consult your doctor before taking Effexor
• If you are lactating, it may be harmful to use Effexor
